Twenty-two years coaching elite athletes, weekend warriors and everyone in between — built on Foundation Training, proven in the garage, and backed by a community that shows up.
John Gannon has spent his career getting people — from professional athletes to first-timers — stronger, fitter and more resilient, in a training environment built on real relationships, not routines.
John's coaching career spans 22 years across elite sport and everyday performance. His highest-profile client is DJ and professional surfer Paul "Fish" Fisher, and he has worked closely with other professional surfers including Taj Burrow, Laura Enever, Jay Occhilupo and Matt Wilkinson, alongside a spell as recovery coach for the Cronulla Sharks NRL — experience that shapes the way he programs training for every client who walks into his studio, whether they're chasing a world tour or their first pull-up.
He founded the Big 8 Challenge, an 8-week program that has become the proving ground for hundreds of members, and built Reset in 4 to give people a realistic, sustainable entry point into training rhythm and recovery. Every session — private, group or corporate — is built on the same foundation: movement quality first, strength and conditioning second, community always.
Off the mats and out of the gym, John is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — a discipline that informs the patience, structure and respect for progression that runs through everything he coaches.
Every program John runs — from a private session to the Big 8 Challenge — starts from the same place: Foundation Training. It's the structural principle underneath the strength work, not a warm-up you skip.
Foundation Training re-engages the posterior chain — the muscles most desk-bound, injury-affected and untrained bodies have switched off — before load ever gets added on top.
Every lift, circuit and conditioning block is built on top of that foundation, so strength gets built on a body that can actually support it — not around pain and compensation.
Private sessions, group classes, the Big 8 Challenge and Reset in 4 all run from this same base — it's why John's programs are built to progress people, not just tire them out.
Reset in 4 is where people start. The Big 8 Challenge is where they go next. Both are built on Foundation Training and run by John and his team.
A 28-day foundation program designed to reset habits, movement and recovery — the entry point into training with John and the first proving ground for new members.

Delivered on-site or remotely for teams of any size, from small crews to full workplaces — travel and DEXA scans quoted separately on booking. Get in touch for current pricing and availability.
